Gabriola, the northernmost of the Gulf Islands, is known as the "Queen of the Gulf Islands." The 14-km (8.7-mi.) long island is a relaxed setting perfect for a holiday. Malaspina Galleries is the showcase of the world famous artist, Mother Nature. Discover this cave-like sandstone formation resembling a massive cresting wave. Walk around it to enjoy the view from within its shelter. View sandstone art of a different form at the other end of the island. The petrogylphs capture a moment in time that will leave you feeling overwhelmed by the earth’s timeless nature. These prehistoric carvings are located near the United Church.

Pack your tent and sleeping bag and head towards spectacular camping on the North and South side of the Island. Enjoy one of the three provincial parks on the island. Gabriola Sands Provincial Park is home to the Twin Beaches, two gorgeous sandy stretches perfect for building sandcastles or digging for buried treasure. Sandwell Provincial Park features spectacular old growth tree stands and marshlands home to a number to animals. Drumbeg Provincial Park offers the chance to examine Garry Oaks stands. These rare trees are only able to survive in a very small area of BC and are protected by many local groups.
